Let the Barbeque Season Open

April 14th, 2010

It is time to tidy up your griddles, put on your shorts and flip flops and enjoy the day out bbqing and smoking awesome Cigars. Along with my favorite smokes, I like to sip on a glass of scotch and just relax. After such a long winter, which seemed to be longer than years past, last weekend was perfect BBQ weather. I was able to eventually open all of my windows and air out the house. I don’t smoke within, it needed displaying out anyway. I tuned up my lawn mower because yes, sadly it is that time of year as well . The snow is gone and the grass is growing. I don’t mind cutting my grass and keeping the grass up. There is really a great satisfaction to a great looking lawn and worth all of the effort. This past weekend, I smoked my favourite cigar and BBQ’d up some ribs and pork steaks. I love to think of myself as the master chef, king of the griddle. There isn’t anything like lighting those coals and going to town on bountiful meats and vegetables. Of course I am a charcoal man, I adore the flavor of the griddle. If you use gas, it does not get the smokey flavor that I adore and is way overrated. I invited all of my friends and naturally the wife and kids were there. It’s a bit to cold to swim yet, but once commemorative day comes around, I’ll open the pool for the season. My youngsters love swimming and splashing around, also I am known to take a dip with cigar and scotch in hand. Summer is a great time to meet up with family and friends and enjoying life they way you wish to.

Attaining The Most From Your Stogies

March 17th, 2010

To really rate a fine cigar, you should view it as more than a plant in a wrapper.  It is much more than that.  Great premium cigars are rare. One of my favorites is CAO Cigars, a terrific cigar that never dissatisfies. There ’s been great perserverance, insistence, and care in creating it, from the rolling procedure all the way to the local smoke vendor.  Consider the wine/cigar metaphor.  You would never enjoy a glass of 200-year-old wine while munching on candy and watching the golf tournament with your comrades?  Naturally you wouldn’t.  That would be against the law!  The eventuality is the exact same with smokes. A terrific smoke deserves the perfect environment.  Location: Start by finding the best Location.  Choose a place that is beautiful, where you can not be distracted. A spot with some beautiful country scenery is totally great, particularly during the fall and spring when it’s not too chilly and not too hot. The right beverage  to have with you:  If you’re a beginner, it’s important to understand that wines will go with cigars.  There is no coach, as everybody has a different oppinion.  Most highly visible cigar smokers , however , will often prefer a pleasant strong tea, coffee, or possibly a cognac.  Some red wines are also very good sidekicks for a pleasant cigar.  Don’t puff on an empty belly Have a little snack before you smoke, nothing that may overtake your palate.  Select something that is not really strong.  Just a small snack to wake your taste receptors up and prepare them for the escapade to come.  Light your cigar and like it for all its’ worth. Take it slow and get most out of your smoking experience.

The Making of Premium Cigars

March 8th, 2010

Premium cigars are still hand-made. An experienced cigar-roller can produce lots of superb, just about matching, cigars a day. The rollers keep the tobacco moist especially the wrapper and use specifically designed crescent-shaped knives, called chavetas, to form the filler and wrapper leaves quickly and accurately. Once rolled, the cigars are stored in wooden forms as they dry, in which their uncapped ends are cut to a uniform size. From this stage, the cigar is a total product that can be “laid down” and aged for decades if kept as close to 21C ( 70F ), and 70% relative humidity, as the environment will allow. Once marsh wheeling cigars have been bought, proper storage is generally accomplished by keeping the cigars in a specialized wooden box, or humidor, where conditions can be thoroughly controlled for long periods of time. Even if a cigar becomes dry, it can be successfully re-humidified so long as it hasn’t been handled carelessly and done so steadily. However, the loss of original tobacco oils will greatly affect the taste.

Producing the Best Quality Cigars

February 10th, 2010

Just as the european wine industry experienced stress and growing pains as united states wine producers gained international accolades, the Cuban cigar industry must face market facts that they are now not the world leader in cigar production and cigar quality.  In fact, the lifting of the Embargo ( whatever that implies ) won’t, can not return Cuba to its glory days.  The cigar industry has taken root and gained force in many of the states discussed above, and there is not any indication that they may go into bankruptcy if the embargo is lifted.  They’re gaining notoriety and accolades for manufacturing quality products that the U.  S.  cigar backer has grown to accept and love.

Only a Couple Days till the Smoking Restriction

December 29th, 2009

So, St. Louis has adopted a smoking ban for all restaurants and bars, with only a small number exemptions. I am so sick and tired of my human rights being abolished, I am tired. I do not understand the reason non-smokers have such a sharp personal judgement on what us smokers are doing. I understand that smoking is bad, but I made a conscience selection when I began smoking, alert to the fact it was bad. Just because non-smokers want me to stop, will not mean that it’s going to happen. Smoking in restaurants has been a favor, but most restaurants provide a special smoking area. If you don’t want to smell the smoke, don’t sit in the smoking area, you are not forced to sit in smoking. And as well as the jobholers of these pubs that argue they are distressed by second hand smoke, prove it. I worked in the hospitality industry for over 10 years, and I know that most of thepeople I worked with were smokers.  Dealing with the public, tends to, initiates you to inhale.  Personally, I have never heard any non-smoking co-worker ever protest about second hand smoke while working in the smoking area. Putting a smoking restriction in restaurants and bars, will only save me money, for I will not dine out after the the new year.

All I need for Christmas: Cigars!

December 18th, 2009

I have concluded this year to plead for basic Christmas Gifts that my wife can pick out easily for me. My selection, as always, is my well-beloved smoke from copenhagen-tobacco.com. She doesn’t even have to leave the apartment, she can go on the internet (I have all my favorites sites saved) and place the order there. As far as more gifts, she can go to the nearest shop and pick out a gift. She mentions every year that I am utterly baffling person to shop for. But we have been married for about 15 years! And if she doesn’t know the things I like by now, I quit. I constantly mention every year, “I want smokes”, I smoke 1 or 2 in a day, and that adds up. I have a humidor for keeping my smokes, “what’s that for?” she askes. Well my sweetheart, it’s to keep my smokes refreshed. So, if you get me some for the holiday I can store them in there for a few months and remove a stogie when I am wanting to fancy one. Although I have to say, I got blessed last year, she bought me a lighter that was ingraved with my initials. The year before, she gave me a fishing pole, because I said I would like to go fishing again someday. Well, I went fishing once in two years, but guess what, I still smoke 1-2 smokes in a day. In the end what do I want for the holiday this year? I want Cigars, and whatever else would just be an secondary pleasure.

Tobacco: Information for the average stogie smoker

November 10th, 2009

The most basic method of identifying cigars is by the method in which they are made. Cigars are either rolled by hand, or manufactured by machines. The beginner smoker may be tempted to start by trying those machine made brands sold in Drug Stores, such as El Producto. However, the aspiring connoisseur should consider spending a few more pennies and moving up to hand rolled cigars, which are sold online or at a local tobacconist.

Daily Smokers Vs Connoisseurs
TypicalIndividual cigar smokers have their own specific tastes, and have their own individual budget. Those who enjoy smoking several cigars per day may need an “everyday” cigar that is less expensive. Therefore, the taste and cost of machine made cigars can be very attractive to some smokers. However, to the beginner or experienced connoisseurs, the ones who enjoy an occasional cigar as a special treat, the hand rolled cigar is worth every penny.
